Solidifying Core Values

First, do you know what the term value means when it comes to life, decisions, and what you are made of (your core). Values are things that you usually have a convicted belief in and usually live your life by those standards. It is those convicted beliefs that mold how your life may or may not turn out and this includes you having a relationship or marriage with another person. For situations like this I have always found it helpful to read Psalm of David 15 NLT.
Now that we have the term value abstractly defined, we also need to include what God has inscribed and learn contentment in the breath of quality of life. In other words, involve Christ as your guide in everything you do for which that which reflects to your core values. One of my favorites is Romans 12:2-3 NLT. You see, the world we live in is not perfect and extenuates a lot of chaos and confusion and is subjective on so many levels. Therefore, we learn contentment as the guide to living our valued life. An area I lean towards is Philippians 4:11-13 NLT.
It is important to start working on identifying your core values and then work on solidifying them; and by doing so you will develop meaning for living in everything you do and keeping spiritually at the forefront. Here are some examples to help you start your mind building your list.
1. List words that come to you that you feel are your values and define what they really mean to you.
2. Stop with the complaints and see the better half of it and what value it has for you.
3. Don’t be so quick to make decisions.
4. What does your heart tell you about what is truly important that you care about?
5. Consult with Christ on all things.
Take a course of action each day living in your core values once you have established them. Try diligently not to lose focus and always remember where to come back to if you do; have that point of reference that is always steady and provides no friction or judgement.
